Common questions

Straightforward answers about sheltered housing.

These are the questions people most often ask when deciding whether Treveor House could be right for them.

Is Treveor House a care home?

No. Treveor House is sheltered housing, so residents live independently in their own private space and remain responsible for their personal care. The House Manager and team help the house run smoothly, freshly prepared meals and communal areas offer company, and the emergency alarm provides reassurance. A care home is different because accommodation and personal care are provided together, including help with tasks such as washing, dressing and using the toilet; some care homes also provide nursing care. Treveor House does not provide personal or nursing care. Read Age UK’s sheltered housing guide.

Who can live at Treveor House?

Treveor House may suit someone aged 55 or over who wants to remain independent, can manage their own personal care and would value freshly prepared meals, company and support nearby.

What support is available?

The House Manager and team help the home run smoothly, two freshly prepared meals are served each day and a 24 hour emergency alarm provides reassurance.

What is included in the monthly bill?

Rent, heating, electricity, water, council tax and shared house costs are brought together in one monthly bill. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for Housing Benefit towards the eligible rent and service charge parts of the bill. Housing Benefit does not normally cover costs such as heating, water or meals, and entitlement is assessed individually. Read the official Housing Benefit guidance.
